The International Common Indicators Initiative (ICII) develops standards and data exchange protocols for psychological and biological data on well-being, resilience, and mental health

On March 24, 2026, the International Common Indicators Initiative (ICII) was officially launched: The Japan Science and Technology Agency, the Leibniz Institute for Resilience Research (LIR), and the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam are collaborating to develop standards for the collection and exchange of data on well-being, resilience, and mental health.

The initiative aims to strengthen international cooperation, improve cross-border data exchange, and consolidate scientific findings more quickly. The goal is to develop new approaches worldwide to promote mental health and resilience.

Representatives from Germany, Japan, and the Netherlands used the workshop days to discuss psychological, physiological, and biological aspects of resilience and to formalize their collaboration.
